Former Jacksonville State star and SMU commit Jaron Pierre Jr. has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and will play for the Mustangs this season, he confirmed to AL.com.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports was the first to report the news of Pierreās withdrawal from the draft.
Pierre originally committed to the ACC program on April 14, along with declaring for the NBA Draft and going through the process; he went through the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp.
Named the 2024-25 Conference USA Player of the Year, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 21.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for the Gamecocks last season.
Along with leading all qualified Division I players in total points (777) and tying for third in total field goals (266), his scoring averaged ranked fourth in DI play.
Pierre also ranked second in total minutes (1,352) and fifth in minutes per game (37.3).
He scored a career-high 36 points against Middle Tennessee State on Feb. 6, which broke the Division I record for a Jax State player in a home win.
