Manager Hyde just a scapegoat.

Fired Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde is a classic victim of circumstance (“Brandon Hyde is gone but Orioles’ problems are bigger than that,” May 18). The team wouldn’t pay enough to keep ace pitcher Corbin Burnes or sign another top notch hurler. Really, Charlie Morton?

Injuries have taken out other key members of the staff. Good hitters Austin Hays and Anthony Santander are with other teams. The team batting average of .231 ranks 24th in the league.

The 2023 American League Manager of the Year didn’t suddenly lose his mojo. Hyde is a scapegoat who deserved better.
