Southern tops Trinity Hall, advances to first SCT final – Girls lacrosse recap

Avery Smith scored the game-winner with 6:08 remaining in the game and third-seeded Southern defeated second-seeded Trinity Hall 8-7 to advance to its first Shore Conference Tournament final in program history on Saturday morning.

Trinity Hall took a 6-4 lead after the game was tied 4-4 at the half, but Southern’s Delaney Falk scored two-straight goals to tie the game 6-6 and set a new school record in goals with 263.

The two teams traded goals which set up Smith’s game-winner.

Falk led Southern with a hat trick, one assist and added four draw controls. Smith finished with two goals and six draw controls, while Mackenzie Sininsky added two goals, one assist and three draw controls. Izzy Muti also scored. Adyson Griffin made nine saves.

For Trinity Hall, Chiara Donohue led with a hat trick, one assist and three draw controls. Bridie Fitzgerald finished with two goals and one assist. O’Malley Eldridge and Rosie Spiropoulos also scored and Mary Catherine O’Connor added two assists. Virginia Avery made eight saves.

Southern will face top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in the Shore Conference Tournament final at 5 p.m. on Monday at Monmouth University.
