Daughter,
sister, wife, mother, friend. Betsy passed peacefully, surrounded by
her family, on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the University of Vermont
Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

Betsy
loved deeply and was cherished by her family and friends. Her radiant
smile, friendly greeting and joyful essence made her truly
unforgettable. She treasured meaningful one-on-one time with those
she held closest to her heart.

She
found happiness in life’s simplest pleasures and lived life to the
fullest. She loved carving big S turns on freshly groomed trails,
riding waves in the ocean, boating on Lake Champlain, snow tubing in
her backyard, listening to Laurel Canyon music, Christmas at Haystack
Mountain, basking in the sun on her deck and gathering around the
fireplace with her people in the home in Essex that she designed.

She
was an exceptional Realtor in Vermont for 38 years and instrumental
in over 700 transactions. Her professionalism and commitment to her
clients were a model for her industry, and her daughter, Carly,
continues that legacy today at Coldwell Banker Hickock & Boardman
in Burlington.

Betsy
was cursed with major health challenges for much of her life, but
they did not deter her from living a life filled with joy and love.
In 1989, Betsy received an experimental autologous bone marrow
transplant to combat a recurrence of Hodgkin’s disease. This brutal
treatment saved and extended her life but, as promised, created havoc
much later on, to which she ultimately succumbed. Her resilience,
strength and positivity were remarkable. She remained upbeat in every
way despite some incredibly low and critical moments in her health
and healing journey.

She
is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Pat; her
beautiful, strong and kind daughters, Carly and Olivia (husband
Taylor); and her grandson, Maddox. She is also survived by her five
siblings, whom she was eternally close to.

A
special thanks to Dr. Gil Allen at UVMMC, who was Betsy’s
pulmonologist for many years. His care and consideration of Betsy was
extraordinary, and they shared a bond greater than a typical
doctor-patient relationship. The family is forever grateful for his
support and guidance throughout the years.

A
celebration of Betsy’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025,
4 to 8 p.m., at the Community Sailing Center in Burlington.
Remembrance contributions can be made to Spectrum Youth & Family Services in Burlington.
