The top player in the state of Utah is heading to Provo for the first time in over a decade.
Brock Harris, a 6-foot-6 tight end out of Pine View High in St. George, committed to BYU over Michigan, Georgia, Miami and Utah. Harris has been the consensus No. 1 prospect in the state for the Class of 2026.
This is the first time Utah’s composite top prospect is coming to BYU out of high school since 2012, when Troy Hinds signed with the Cougars. Hinds was a tight end out of Kaysville.
Harris is rated the fifth-best tight end in the country and the No. 56 recruit nationally.
He’s also the first top-five player in Utah to stay in-state in this recruiting cycle.
Quarterback Helaman Casuga, the fourth-best composite player, opted for Texas A&M. Esun Tafa, an offensive lineman at Corner Canyon, committed to USC.
The two remaining top five players in the state are Salesi Moa, from Ogden, and Bott Mulitalo, from American Fork.
Moa is considering Utah, Tennessee and Michigan among others. Mulitalo has BYU, USC, Oregon and Utah in the mix.
Harris’ signing continues a streak of high-profile tight ends going to BYU. Jackson Bowers signed with the Cougars as a four-star over Alabama. He ultimately transferred this offseason to Oregon State. And Ryner Swanson, who picked BYU over Texas last year, is now serving a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission.
