Adrianna Smith recorded her seventh straight double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds, and the UMaine women’s basketball team ended its regular season with a 74-67 win over Binghamton in an America East game Saturday in Orono.
Sarah Talon and Lala Woods each added 18 points for the Black Bears, who clinched the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Maine (17-12, 12-4 America East) will host seventh-seeded New Hampshire in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Maine led 35-12 in the second quarter, but Bella Pucci and Kendall Bennett fueled a comeback bid by Binghamton (18-11, 12-6), which pulled to within four points before the Black Bears closed it out. Pucci finished with 24 points, going 7 for 10 from 3-point range, and Bennett had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
