The legendary Champagne’s on Maryland Parkway has closed its doors for good.
The cocktail and karaoke bar (formerly Champagnes Cafe) opened in 1966 as Sundown Liquors, one of Las Vegas’ oldest bars.
Ownership posted on social media Friday that the bar would close at 8 a.m. Monday, offering one final weekend of karaoke with KJ Marc until 2 a.m.
“Sadly, Champagne’s is closing it’s [sic] doors,” they posted on social media. “Thanks for making Champagne’s Cafe legendary and see you this weekend.”
Details of what led to the closure weren’t immediately available.
Kori Lewis, a bartender at Champagne’s, wrote on Facebook the closure was due to “several factors, which are not my business to discuss” and that “it’s been coming for a minute.”
Last summer, Neon ranked Champagne’s among the top 12 dive bars in town. The bar received earlier Neon coverage in 2016, when it was featured on “Bar Rescue,” and the subsequent follow-up after a barrage of concerns about the changes.
