Patricia Tobin Burgmeier, loving wife, daughter, mother and friend, passed away at 82 years old on December 15, 2025, surrounded by her husband of 61 years, James Burgmeier; her son, Glenn; her daughter, Robin; their spouses, Gillian Klein and Matt Pyle; grandchildren Colton, Alison and Emily; and her beloved dog, Ginger. Pat was born on March 16, 1943, and was predeceased by her father, John R. Tobin, and mother, Carol Tobin (Cummings). Pat was cofounder of the Other Paper, the South Burlington weekly newspaper. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Trinity College and became a para-educator at Gertrude Chamberlin Elementary School, helping children in and outside the classroom. Pat enjoyed entertaining and always welcomed friends and family in her home. She hosted an annual Truffle Party around the holidays for more than 25 years, rolling fancy chocolates, an event that became legendary.
Pat was an accomplished artist, painting weekly for years with a small group of friends who called themselves the Monet Mamas. Pat traveled extensively, mostly with her husband, visiting 43 states, seven Canadian provinces, 18 European countries, four African countries, and two each in Asia and South America. Pat loved to cook and was notorious for making everything delicious. She was always happy, smiling and upbeat and loved her family dearly. We will be having a celebration of Pat’s life in the summer of 2026. Date and place to be determined. Please send her daughter an email with your contact information if you’d like to be included, so we don’t miss anyone: [email protected].
