Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday — it’s time to take a break from the shopping insanity and think outside the boxes and bows.
Giving Tuesday is a movement dedicated to changing how people think about the holiday season and encouraging them to take action by giving back to nonprofits in their area. This year Giving Tuesday is set for Dec. 2.
“Nonprofits in Arkansas remain both resilient and strained. Workforce shortages, inflationary pressures and increased demand for services continue to challenge organizations, especially in rural communities,” Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Arkansas Community Foundation, told Soirée in October.
And most encouraging of all, she adds, “Yet Arkansas has nearly 33,000 registered nonprofits, and giving has remained steady. Arkansans give roughly $2.3 billion annually in charitable contributions, reflecting our state’s deep philanthropic culture.”
So hit the brakes for a moment this holiday season and think about the causes you care about, the local organizations you use every day that rely on the help of the communities they serve. Then consider giving a little (or a lot) of money, time and manpower to make sure they can keep up the good work.
