Aurora Players invites audiences to celebrate the holiday season with a beloved Western New York tradition: Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol, starring acclaimed performer Mike Randall, for a limited engagement December 4–6, 2025 at the new Scott Bieler Family Foundation Auditorium within Hamlin Park’s Historic Roycroft Pavilion.
In this remarkable one-man performance, Randall transforms into Charles Dickens himself, bringing to life more than two dozen characters from this classic tale — from Ebenezer Scrooge to Tiny Tim — with authenticity, warmth, and humor. Faithful to Dickens’ own 1860s public readings of A Christmas Carol, Randall’s performance blends storytelling and drama in a way that continues to captivate audiences of all ages.
“Mike’s portrayal of Dickens and his timeless story of redemption have become a holiday favorite for so many,” said Tim Musial, Aurora Players Board President, “We’re thrilled to bring this cherished tradition to our stage and share it with the community in our newly renovated auditorium.”
Randall, a well-known (retired) WKBW television weatherman and reporter, as well as a formidable actor, has been performing Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol for 18 years, delighting audiences across the region and beyond. His engaging interpretation and heartfelt delivery make the production a perfect way to usher in the holiday spirit.
“Dickens was not only and author but a professional actor as well,” said Mr. Randall. ‘When I found out that he came to Buffalo to read his famous story in 1868, I decided to recreate Mr. Dicken’ presentation of his most well know work.” Mr. Randall added, “what I find most intriguing is the way the author threw himself into the performances, not just reading the words, but becoming each of the characters on stage. It was a blending of author and actor creating wonderful magic on stage, which I try to bring to every performance.”
The Historic Roycroft Theater, home of Aurora Players, is located at 166 South Grove Street within Hamlin Park in East Aurora and is wheelchair accessible. Aurora Players is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization.
