One man said he was attacked by two men, one wielding an axe, on Chicago’s Near West Side early Monday morning, according to Chicago police.
Police officers patrolling the1300 block of South Jefferson street found a 44-year-old man with injuries in the middle of the street around 2 a.m. Monday. The man said he was attacked by two men, one of whom was carrying an axe. The offenders fled after the attack.
The Chicago Fire Department treated the man and took him to Stroger Hospital in good condition, according to police.
About an hour earlier, at 1 a.m., a man, 40, was robbed by an armed man riding a bicycle who struck the victim with an “unknown object” as he walked on the sidewalk near a parking lot on the 1400 block of South Canal street, according to police. The suspect then fled.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition despite lacerations to the head.
There is no one in custody. Detectives are investigating.
