HPD warns of heavy traffic, planned power outage in Waikiki

The Honolulu Police Department is warning motorists to “expect heavy traffic” in Waikiki today because of a planned power shut-off by the Hawaiian Electric Company.

“The area of Waikiki that will be affected extends from the McCully Street intersection with Kalakaua Avenue down Ala Moana Boulevard to the Hobron Lane intersection,” HPD said in a social media post. “Expect police officers and road workers to divert and direct traffic. Let’s work together to make sure we all get where we’re going safely!”

Power will be shut off until 7 p.m., police said.
