Vermont, Maine top list of 8 best places to live in US

Once again, people who don’t value grits, sweet tea, white sand beaches, friendly neighbors, competitive college football and old-fashioned Bible preaching have made a list of the best states to live in, and no Southern states are in the top 10.

The cold-blooded list-makers from CNBC who apparently place high value on maple syrup and frigid winters have determined that Vermont is the number one place in America to live.

Here are the Top 10, according to the list that includes no states with member schools in the Southeastern Conference.

  1. Vermont
  2. Maine
  3. New Jersey
  4. Minnesota
  5. Connecticut
  6. Hawaii
  7. North Dakota
  8. (3-way tie) Massachusetts, Nebraska, Virginia

The CNBC list values data such as job security, livable wages, safety, great schools and affordability.

House Beautiful reprinted the list as the top 8 places to live, apparently deciding that Massachusetts wins in a three-way tie over Nebraska and Virginia.

Meanwhile, Southerners will either have to move to a “most livable” or continue sipping their sweet tea and watching their competitive college football.
