Pine Street Hospitality, the group that brought Orlando Bullitt Bar, McQueen’s, Sessions, The Basement, The Attic and Papi Smash’d Burger, will bring Walter’s Tavern, a 3,800-square-foot bar, to the Great Southern Box Co. Food Hall in the Packing District next month. The bar is named after Walter Phillips, son of Dr. Phillips, and will offer craft cocktails, live entertainment and an “elevated sports-viewing experience.”
Mamazzita Gastrobar, a Peruvian/Latin restaurant that transforms into a nightclub with bottle service at night, has opened near the Florida Mall at 1949 W. Sand Lake Road in the same plaza as Viet Thai Café.
Look for dumpling house Jiang’s Kitchen to open downtown at 27 E. Robinson St. early next year. Owner Eric Jiang will also open Fan Hwa, a Chinese dessert and bao shop, at 709 N. Mills Ave. No opening date has been announced. This summer, Jiang opened Sushi Izuki, an omakase house in O-Town West.
Suya Bite, a new food truck offering West African comfort fare ranging from Nigerian barbecue suya beef, lamb and chicken as well as jollof rice, roasted corn and fried plantains, is now open at 1023 W. Colonial Drive near North Westmoreland Drive.
Gallo’s Pollo & Grill, specializing in Latin American-style rotisserie chicken and other comfort staples, will open in the prominent space at 490 N. Semoran Blvd. near Aloma Avenue that was once home to La Granja.
Dr. Drips, a vintage/trippy coffee shop by day and kava bar by night, has opened inside the 1618 Something Different furniture shop at 1618 N. Orange Ave. in Ivanhoe Village … Talkin’ Tacos, the all-halal Mexican taquería out of South Florida with locations in SoDo, Maitland and Lake Nona, has opened a fourth area location at 2007 W. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee … Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has closed its Lake Eola store at 31 E. Central Blvd. a little more than a year after opening.
