What to Expect at the Second Annual Simmons Bank Championship

Today marks the start of the second annual Simmons Bank Championship, the biggest golf event in Arkansas.

Hosted in our own backyard at the Pleasant Valley Country Club, the PGA Tour Champions playoff event is the second round in the annual Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs and will feature more than 50 players competing for $2.3 million in prize money. Plus, net proceeds will be donated to several nonprofits throughout the state.

Tournament play on Oct. 24-25 will kick off at 8:15 a.m. and 7:35 a.m. on Oct. 26.

But the week isn’t all about golf. Simmons Bank is also hosting a lineup of activities and community events for fans and families alike.

Here’s what you can expect:

Women’s Leadership Summit | Oct. 20 – 9:30 a.m.

Local keynote speakers Katie Byrnes, Taylor Dean and Macy Pulliam will kick off the week with a day of inspiration and insight at the Women’s Leadership Summit. Hosted by emcee Mandy Richardson, the event will also feature panel discussions and networking opportunities.

Caddie Shootout | Oct. 21 – 6-9 p.m.

The caddies will take center stage and compete around the course in a Western-themed showdown. Dust off your boots for an evening of live music from Gone Country, signature cocktails, plenty of food and customizable cowboy hats by Social Pony Hat Bar.

Folds of Honor Friday | Oct. 24 – 7:15 a.m.

The opening ceremony on Oct. 24 will recognize the commitment and sacrifice of military service members and first responders. The ceremony will feature a special appearance from The Chuters Team and more. Wear your red, white and blue to celebrate those who have served and those we have lost. Active, reserved and retired military and veterans can receive two complimentary “good any day” tickets. Click here for more information.

Game Day Tailgate | Oct. 25 – 7:30-11 a.m.

Celebrate Razorback Football on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the College Gameday Tailgate. Wear your best red Razorback gear and enjoy food, beverages, kid activities and more fun alongside tournament play.

Trophy Presentation | Oct. 26 – 3:30 p.m.

Wrapping up the playoff weekend is the trophy presentation ceremony. Set to take place on the 18th green immediately following the end of play, spectators can see which players secured their spot in the final event of the season and who will take home the $2.3 million prize money.

Adding to the activities, the golf course will have many more areas of fun for all. An Arkansas Children’s family fun zone will be located between green 15 and the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance Driving Range. The expo zone, which will feature local businesses and food, is located adjacent to the practice putting green and the first tee. Plus, a viewing spot for the littles will be at Arkansas Children’s kids viewing areas located at the second and 15th greens, and you can stop by the fan shop for merchandise to commemorate the weekend. A full map of the area can be found here.
