“Alebrijes” – Milagro
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with Milagro. “Alebrijes” was written by Georgina Escobar and is a playful homage to the totemic creations of Mexico City’s Pedro Linares. In 1936 Linares created and named the surreal and imaginative “animal-like” creatures that have become his cultural legacy.

Portland Argentinian Festival
Portland hosts a large crop of cultural festivals each year and this Saturday you can soak in the sounds, flavors and colors of Argentina. Listen to live music, see dancing including folk and tango, sample empanadas and other traditional foods and shop a colorful marketplace.

Washington County Open Studios Tour
If you live on the west side of the metro area, you’ve got your own open studio event highlighting artists in Washington County. Artists in as many as 50 studios will open their doors to the public showing their talent and techniques. Watch artists work as they create in their medium. You can ask questions and maybe get a jump on your holiday shopping.

Celeste Barber “Backup Dancer” tour
This Australian comedian and internet sensation is back on tour with her wacky show that grew out of her Instagram account which hilariously trolled celebrity “high art” culture and glamorous social media posts. If you didn’t see her the first time around, now’s your chance.

“Three Rivers” – Cascadia Composers
The piano, violin, and cello are highlighted as the Metolius Trio (Andrew Cannestra, Ben Ehrmantraut, and Austin Bennett) present new works by living Oregon composers that celebrate emotions, quirky stories, and a sheer elemental forces.

Samba Carnaval featuring Bloco Alegria
Bloco Alegria, Portland’s own percussion and dance ensemble modeled after the traditional samba schools in Brazil, offers a carnival night filled with drumming and dancing. Take a Samba lesson (included with admission), then dance the night away with DJ Brother Charlie.

“Witch”
Profile Theatre presents the subversive and spellbinding “Witch” by Jen Silverman. The play explores the worth of a human soul and how to have hope in times that seem hopeless. The plot involves a charming devil who arrives in a quiet village to bargain for the souls of the residents in exchange for their darkest wishes.

Sarimanok Ballet + Pinamulan Exhibit
The award-winning premier ballet company of the Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theatre, takes the stage at The Reser with “Sarimanok.” Audiences will travel to a mythical realm where a radiant bird soars through dazzling landscapes. Expect stunning costumes, intricate choreography and music that celebrates the richness of Filipino heritage. The ballet is accompanied by a craft exhibit and a fashion show that highlights the work of Filipino designers. The exhibit opens 4 p.m. Sunday.

Esme Quartet

Evening of Romantic and Modern music
St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church presents soprano Kayla Ray with pianist Joseph Z. Pettit. The program will include songs by Jules Massenet, Johannes Brahms, and Richard Pearson Thomas, as well as Baroque arias of Handel.

Limón Dance Company – Presented by White Bird
One of the world’s premier modern dance companies, The Limón Dance Company, performs a selection of works that emphasize expressive movement and group dynamics. A centerpiece of the performance is José Limón’s “A Choreographic Offering,” set to Bach’s music. This piece pays tribute to dance pioneer Doris Humphrey through its intricate geometric patterns and circular motifs. The program also features additional works by Humphrey and contemporary choreographer Kayla Farrish, creating a dialogue between the company’s historical foundation and current artistic voices.
