NYC Mayor Eric Adams tells staff he’s been offered ‘amazing’ job

New York City Mayor Eric Adams shared with leaders in his administration that he’s received an “amazing” job offer for when he leaves City Hall this year, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Adams made the comments in a meeting with over 200 participants from across city government, said the person, who asked not to be named without authorization to speak publicly. The Daily News first reported the comments, where Adams said there could be more than one offer and that the job “would amount to an opportunity ‘of a lifetime,’ second” only to running the largest U.S. city.

Adams, 65, quit his reelection bid last month after polling indicated he was in last place among the main candidates. Multiple polls had shown Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, likely to win the election in November — in most cases by double digits in a four-way race against Andrew Cuomo, Adams, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
