The Giants’ offseason search for a quarterback included help from an unlikely — but familiar — source.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Giants got insight from former head coach Joe Judge during their pre-draft evaluations of Jaxson Dart.
Judge was an assistant quarterbacks coach at Ole Miss during Dart’s senior season and helped the Giants “learn everything [they] needed to know about Dart.”
Judge was head coach of the Giants from 2020 to 2021 and was fired following a 10-23 record across the two seasons. He was replaced by Brian Daboll.
And as Daboll looked to find a longtime quarterback solution for the franchise (that would hopefully save his job), Judge gave him an inside look at Dart’s arm talent.
Dart is now is now 2-1 as the Giants’ starter after beating the Eagles, 34-17, in primetime on Thursday. He and the Giants will travel to Denver for their Week 7 matchup against the Broncos.
