Basketball fans: I hope your calendar is clear the next couple of weeks! Between October 13 and 29, Birmingham will host an NBA pre-season game, UAB exhibition games and four in-state programs at Boutwell Auditorium.

Pelicans v. Rockets

The New Orleans Pelicans are back in Legacy Arena next Tuesday, October 14 to take on the Houston Rockets.
This is the third time in four seasons the Pelicans have played a preseason game at Legacy Arena at the BJCC, the home court of the Birmingham Squadron, their NBA G League affiliate.
Heads up: 11,589 watched the Pelicans and Rockets in the last preseason game. And in 2022, the Pelicans vs. the Atlanta Hawks game was sold out.
“Ballin in Boutwell”

Last year, “Bama in Boutwell” was a special game between Alabama men’s basketball and Wake Forest, marking the first game played in 45 years at the 101-year-old Boutwell Auditorium.
Now, four in-state programs are coming back to the historic auditorium as part of “Ballin in Boutwell.”
- Monday, October 13, 7PM: Samford men’s basketball vs. Alabama A&M men’s basketball
- Wednesday, October 15, 7PM: Auburn men’s basketball vs. Oklahoma State men’s basketball
- Thursday, October 16, Noon: Alabama women’s basketball vs. Florida State women’s basketball
- Thursday, October 16, 7PM: Alabama men’s basketball vs. Florida State men’s basketball
Plus, this is the first chance to see new Auburn head coach Steve Pearl lead the Tigers, and Lennie Acuff lead the Samford Bulldogs.
UAB Men’s Basketball exhibition games

UAB men’s basketball is kicking off its season with two exhibition games. The Blazers will host Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky before their regular season starts on Monday, November 3.
