Hip-hop dream team Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist play Orlando this weekend

There are few MCs in the hip-hop game today who balance underground cred, unerring sonic adventurism and critical and audience hosannahs quite like Freddie Gibbs. And now he’s coming to school Orlando.

Gibbs heads to the City Beautiful as part of a tour with mad scientist Alchemist touting Alfredo 2, the recent sequel to Grammy-nominated 2020 masterpiece Alfredo. (Sidebar: We should hand Alchemist the key to the city, given his recent appearance here with Erikyah Badu and now this.)

And it’s that boldness in revisiting and attempting to one-up an acknowledged masterpiece that keeps Gibbs and Alchemist ever on the edge of the “next thing.” Each delivers the goods — Gibbs with hard-hitting lyrics and a dizzying, ever-evolving flow, and Alchemist with lush soundworlds and enigmatic samples. “Lemon Pepper Steppers” live might well bring the house down.

6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, The Beacham, 46 N. Orange Ave., foundation-presents.com, $35-$70.
