Rescue crews were searching Sunday for the body of a missing paddleboarder at Larimer County’s Horsetooth Reservoir.
Poudre Fire Authority crews responded Sunday afternoon to Satanka Cove in Horsetooth Reservoir after an unidentified paddleboarder went missing in the water, fire officials said just before 4:15 p.m. on X.
The rescue turned into recovery efforts later that evening, after hours of searching with no success, Larimer County sheriff’s officials said.
Crews used drones, boats and sonar to search the area where the paddleboarder was last seen, but could not find the paddleboarder, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The victim was not wearing a personal flotation device.
Once found, the paddleboarder will be identified by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
Larimer County Parks, Poudre Fire Authority, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team were all involved in the Sunday evening operation.
No updates were available on the search Monday morning.
