High school scoreboard: Hickory upsets No. 3 Nansemond River in field hockey

Erin Seery recorded two goals and an assist for the Hawks in an upset over the No. 3 Warriors. Laila Manipon and Caroline Jones each tallied a goal and an assist. Abby Cullen also scored once. Roselyn Hanson, Caitlin Outlaw, Caydence Parker and Brayden Johnson all netted goals for Nansemond River. Hickory plays Cape Henry on Friday at the Ring of Honor Tournament at USA Regional Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach, 3:30 p.m.

#6 Great Bridge 6, Lakeland 0

Leah Orrock and Bella Steckline each recorded two goals and an assist for the Wildcats. Lexi Curtis and Harper Harris each scored once with Curtis, Olivia Young and Berkley Steckline each contributing an assist.

Cape Henry 5, #9 Princess Anne 0

Caroline Kenison, Lia Mulkey, Kelly Sharp, Lauren Doron and Finley McMath all scored for the Dolphins in a victory over the No. 9 Cavaliers. Kenison, Maggie Winans and Camille Lebel each provided an assist. Goalkeeper Payton Devalda totaled 19 saves, including a penalty stroke.

Southeastern District

Indian River 3, King’s Fork 0

Alexa Hawkins, Zoey Dowdy and Marlie Voelker each scored one goal for the Braves with assists from Dowdy, Hallie Brooks and Lauren Heffelfinger. Sophomore goalkeeper I’yanna Porter totaled four saves for her second shutout in a row.

Nondistrict

Smithfield 6, Nansemond-Suffolk 0

The Packers shut out the Saints in a game ended by mercy rule 3:18 into the fourth quarter. Sophomore Kiyah Hill recorded a hat trick, including a goal 2:17 into the first quarter. Junior Riley Kirk tallied one assist and one goal. Senior captain Aliyana Smith and junior Payton Lewis each scored once. Caylin Hicks added an assist.

The Chiefs were led by Wyatt Strawbridge with four aces, six kills and eight assists. Rylan Patterson followed with five aces and five kills, while Trevor Strawbridge finished with eight aces and one kill.

#4 Granby d. Norcom, 3-0

(25-15, 25-12, 25-14)

Andrew Parker and Alijah Lamp combined for 16 kills. Will Findlay totaled 26 assists, and Davis Mendoza led the Comets’ defense with 17 digs.

#9 Maury d. Manor, 3-0

(25-11, 25-14, 25-12)

Luke Shomaker logged six aces for the Commodores, while Sawyer Richard and Keegan Anuar provided 18 and seven respective assists. Johnny March finished with three blocks. Keegan Anuar and Alex Van Benschoten had hitting percentages over 70%.

Eastern District

Churchland d. Norview, 3-0

Eli Johnson and Dominick Crislip each tallied four attacks for the Truckers. Freshman John Allison contributed three aces.

Alyssa Thornton and Kyrsten Wells led the Comets with 12 and six aces, respectively.

Nondistrict

Kempsville d. Oscar Smith, 3-0

Setters Jocelynn Garcia and Trinity Riordan combined for 15 assists. The Chiefs combined for nine aces, and Samaya Windley led defensively with 20 digs.
