A dam restoration project at Echo Hill Park in Hunterdon county that will include a new walk bridge and ADA-accessible dock got underway this month.
The Echo Hill Dam Restoration Project in Clinton Township is scheduled for completion by February 2026. The project aims to enhance safety, accessibility and environmental health of the park, according to county officials.
Key components of the project already in production include the sluiceway gate and a new walk bridge that will serve as both a functional and scenic asset to the park.
The project will include the installation of an ADA-accessible dock designed for fishing and safe transitions into and out of kayaks and canoes.
The dock will also support safe-paddling training sessions and expand opportunities for Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation programming.
In addition to recreational improvements, the project will bring long-term environmental benefits to the park, county officials said.
A new power supply panel will support construction needs and, once complete, will provide electricity for pond aeration. Air diffusers will be installed to promote a healthy aquatic ecosystem.
“Echo Hill Park is an important part of our community, and these improvements will enhance water management, environmental sustainability, and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors,” Commissioner Director John E. Lanza said in a statement.
The state Division Fish and Wildlife has committed to stocking the pond with warmwater game species upon project completion, officials said.
