A 59-year-old man was rescued this morning after fainting while hiking on Mokolii islet in Kaneohe Bay, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
HFD said it received a 911 call at 10:19 a.m. and responded with five units and 13 personnel. The first unit arrived at 10:28 a.m. and secured a landing zone for an air rescue.
The man, who had been hiking with a group, collapsed about halfway up the islet. HFD’s Air 1 found the group and lowered rescuers to the site. Crews assessed the hiker, provided basic life support, and airlifted him to shore.
He was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:16 a.m. for treatment.
