Fashion meets purpose with Alabama Goodwill

In a world of fast fashion and one-click purchases, millions of pounds of clothing end up in landfills each year, many of them barely worn. If you’ve ever scored a gem at your neighborhood Goodwill, you already know thrifting can be a gold mine if you’re willing to do some digging.

At “Reclaimed,” local talent will strut the runway in curated looks pulled straight from Alabama Goodwill stores. Every purchase from Alabama Goodwill stores helps fund local job training, employment programs and community services across the state. That means when you shop at Goodwill, you’re not only fighting overconsumption, you’re fueling opportunity.

Hitting the WorkPlay stage: bold looks, big energy, and one-of-a-kind style moments. Designer Daniel Grier of Splashed by DKG —known for his fearless use of upcycled fashion—will be featured alongside a lineup of fresh talent, each putting their own spin on secondhand and statement pieces.

From upcycled denim to reimagined vintage gowns, the runway will celebrate creativity, community and conscious fashion choices—proving that you don’t need to buy a brand new wardrobe to look your best and express yourself.

(P.S.: Want to be a part of the show? Alabama Goodwill is seeking local upcycle designers to be featured in the showcase + models to walk the show! Just email [email protected].)

Farewells + fresh starts

“Reclaimed” is more than a fashion moment—it’s a milestone.

Part recycled style show, part send-off party, “Reclaimed” is their creative way of saying thank you to retiring CEO Dave Wells. This event is a celebration of his impact and all the lives changed through Goodwill’s mission-driven work.

“As DeWayne and I “upcycle” ourselves to our next phase of life, I want to say thank you to our amazing team for all your hard work to help our community members earn sustainable careers. And of course a big congratulations to our fellow community members who courageously take control of the life they desire and deserve!”

Dave Wells, Retiring President & CEO, Alabama Goodwill

Taking the reins is Dr. DeWayne Cuffie, a community-minded leader ready to carry that mission forward. The event is a chance to honor the past, toast to the future and enjoy a night of fashion with a purpose.

“Reclaimed is more than a fashion show—it’s a celebration of second chances, creativity, and community. Every piece on the runway tells a story, just like every life touched by Goodwill’s mission. We’re not just showcasing style; we’re spotlighting transformation.”
