“Caught! Sharks Strike Back” is headlining Thursday for the 2025 edition of Shark Week on Discovery Channel on July 24 at 9 p.m. You can watch live as it airs on Sling TV (half off first month) or Philo (free trial), or DIRECTV (free trial).
The Shark Week special event will feature a look at why 2025 has become the record-holder for the most shark encounters outright captured on camera. Specifically, it will take a look at events like the fisherman who was accidentally slapped in the face by a shark, or the kayaker who was stalked by a curious (and possibly hungry) great white shark for more than 10 minutes.
The other Shark Week specials that will air on the same night will be “Surviving Jaws” at 8 p.m., and “Frankenshark” at 10 p.m. If you sign up for Philo, the service’s 7-day free trial will cover the remainder of the entire event!
The “Shark Week” lineup this year is set to consist of 20 specials, with 8 remaining. One of Monday’s highlights was “Great White Sex Battle,” while the highlights of the remainder are “Bull Shark Showdown,” and “Battle for Shark Mountain.”

Philo is the cheapest, easiest, most straightforward way to watch Shark Week content for free. However, cord cutters might also be drawn to the larger breadth of options provided by DIRECTV, or the customization of Sling TV.
