A man in his 50s was rescued from waters at Kaneohe Sandbar Sunday afternoon after was found floating and unconscious.
Good Samaritans were already transporting the man, described as a swimmer, back to shore when Honolulu firefighters arrived in response to a 12:36 p.m. 911 call.
Five units with 13 personnel responded, with the first arriving at Heeia Ka Boat Harbor in 12 minutes.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a good Samaritan boat carrying the man, and being escorted by several jet skiers on its way to shore.
They met the boat at 12:54 p.m. and provided basic life support until Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived at 12:58 p.m.
EMS rushed the man, who was in cardiac arrest, to the hospital in critical condition.
