A 44-year-old migrant man, who previously resided at a state-run shelter in Marlborough, has pleaded guilty to raping and impregnating his 14-year-old daughter.

A judge sentenced the man last week to 12 to 15 years in prison, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office. Boston.com is not naming the man to protect the identity of the victim.

Both the man and his teen daughter lived at a shelter at a hotel in Marlborough between September 2023 and May 2024. Adults at both the teen’s school and the hotel reported concerns to the Department of Children and Families, as well as local police and the district attorney’s office, that the teen was pregnant, prosecutors said.

In response to these reports, authorities placed the girl into the care of the Department of Children and Families, and removed her from the shelter amid an investigation.

An ultrasound confirmed the girl’s pregnancy and found that conception occurred during the timeframe that the man and his daughter were living together, authorities said.

DNA tests after the baby was born confirmed “that not only was the defendant the biological father of the victim, it was also twenty-three trillion times more likely than not, that he was the biological father of the victim’s baby,” according to the district attorney’s office.

Police arrested the man on Jan. 31 and charged him with aggravated rape of child.
