Sen. Lee is proposing legislation to protect our most vulnerable citizens, our children, from obscene behavior. I applaud his efforts, as it seems that everyone has abandoned their values and given into their most basic instincts.
However, I wonder how the senator is able to recognize pornography when so much obscene behavior seems to escape his attention. How can he discern what is appropriate when he says nothing about the repugnant roleplaying of Kristi Noem funded by taxpayers and done in full view of children. When the executive branch repeatedly violates the Constitution in full view of us all I would expect him to stand up in vocal defense of this document he claims to love.
Instead, the senator’s response is to play the role of the silent cuckold. I would expect Lee to be the first one to speak when masked ICE agents without badges pull people off worksites using methods more akin to secret police than legitimate law enforcement. Rather than call out this unamerican violation of due process, Lee voted to reward these deviants with a cruelty kink to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars.
One would think that a Utah senator would cherish and protect our state’s natural treasures, but Lee has opted instead to act as a shameless pimp of our public lands. Even in his personal demeanor the senator’s choices are questionable. Rather than offer comfort when two democratic representatives were killed in cold blood, Lee offered only a repulsive attempt at humor.
Honestly, with the lack of discernment skills and almost pathological focus on his social media rather than his job, if we allow Sen. Lee to determine what is obscene, I think our democracy is going to need a safe word.
