Woody Howard literally went from worst to first Saturday at Langley Speedway in Hampton in Late Model competition on Advance Auto Parts Night.
Among 16 competitors in the division’s first race of the night, Howard finished last as defending champion Greg Edwards won, followed by Peyton Sellers and third-place Ryan Matthews.
But in their encore, Howard took the checkered flag, with points-leading Edwards second and Cody Bryant third. Danny Edwards placed fourth in both races.
Howard scored his fourth victory of the year in the speedway’s marquee group, while Greg Edwards registered his second.
In other divisions:
Modified: Rick Gdovic won a 40-lap race that included just five drivers, while Spencer Conrad was second and Brad Adams third. Adams and Conrad began the evening 1-2 in points. Gdovic took his second triumph of the year.
