Lazaro Montes’ 2 home runs lead AquaSox past Spokane

Lazaro Montes hit two home runs, and Everett jumped to a 7-0 lead early to take down Spokane on the road, 8-3, on Thursday.

Montes — the Mariners’ No. 2 prospect according to MLB.com — was 3 for 5 with three RBI and three runs. He now has 17 homers this season.

Charlie Pagliarini and Michael Arroyo also homered for the AquaSox, with both coming in their four-run first inning.

Starting pitcher Ashton Izzi earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three over six innings.

Diaz, Rainiers beat Isotopes

Jhonathan Díaz allowed two runs over seven innings to earn the win in Tacoma’s 4-2 win at home Albuquerque.

Díaz held the Isotopes to no runs until their two-run eighth.

Jack López homered for the Rainiers, and Rhylan Thomas was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
