Former Utah star safety Eric Weddle was named to the 2026 ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame on Monday.
Weddle is among 79 players and nine coaches from the FBS and 100 players and 35 coaches from the divisional ranks on the list.
The Fontana, California, native played at the University of Utah from 2003-06. Weddle finished his career with 277 tackles, 10 sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss. He also had nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 18 interceptions — three of which were returned as touchdowns — and 23 pass breakups in that span.

Weddle was named as a consensus All-American in 2006, a freshman All-American in 2003 and a two-time Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year award winner.
The former Ute safety was later selected by the San Diego Chargers in the 2007 NFL Draft. He’d go on to spend 14 seasons in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and being selected to an all-pro team five times.
The 2026 Hall of Fame class will officially be inducted during the 68th National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8, 2026.
