A serious crash closed northbound Routes 9 and 35 in Sayreville at the base of the Edison Bridge on Thursday morning, officials said.
The crash was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Traffic is being diverted at the Chevalier Avenue overpass with the detour expected to last for several hours.
The Edison Bridge connects Sayreville and Woodbridge via Route 9.
Police couldn’t immediately be reached for additional information.
