The Oregon men’s golf team’s season came to an end at the NCAA Auburn Regional.
The Ducks, who were the No. 6 seed in the Auburn Regional, finished ninth of the 13 teams at Auburn University Club on Wednesday.
UO shot a 5-over 293 in the final round to move up three spots, but were still short of the cut line (10 over).
“We played better today but we could never sustain any good play this week,” head coach Casey Martin said. “It was a frustrating week.”
Auburn won the regional title, shooting 32-under, with Texas A&M, UCLA, Purdue and Georgia Tech all clinching spots at the NCAA Championships.
Auburn’s Jackson Koivun won the individual title and Kennesaw State’s Claes Borregaard tied for second individually and claimed the regional’s at-large spot to the national championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California from May 23-28.
Greyson Leach shot even-par to lead Oregon in the final round and finished tied for 18th individually at 2 over.
Eric Doyle and Jay Gould-Healy each shot a 2-over 74 on Wednesday. Doyle tied Aiden Krafft in 38th place individually at 8 over, while Gould-Healy tied for 43rd at 9 over.
Jeffrey Kwak made his postseason debut in the final round with a 4-over 76.
“I’m sad for Greyson and Eric (Doyle) that they didn’t get to play at nationals,” Martin added. “They had a great career.”
