A Jeffco Public Schools psychologist who worked at Green Mountain and Bear Creek high schools was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child sex assault, soliciting child prostitution and drug charges, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Police began investigating 38-year-old James Michael Chevrier, who goes by Michael, on Friday after the school district received a Safe2Tell report that a Green Mountain school psychologist had sexually assaulted a female student.
Chevrier was also arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances with the intent to distribute or manufacture and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Detectives believe there may be people with more information about the case. Chevrier also worked at Evergreen High School from 2022 to 2023 and in the Cherry Creek School District from 2021 to 2022, police said Wednesday.
Jeffco Public Schools officials notified families at Green Mountain, Bear Creek and Evergreen high schools of Chevrier’s arrest on Wednesday.
Chevrier was immediately placed on administrative leave after district officials got the Safe2Tell tip Friday and was fired Monday, according to the messages sent to families.
