Mount Holly Cemetery, a burial ground with a rich history located in the Quapaw Quarter of downtown Little Rock, will host its annual Restore in Perpetuity (R.I.P.) Spring Picnic on Sunday, April 27, from 5-7 p.m.
As the cemetery’s only fundraising event of the year, the Spring Picnic helps raise proceeds to maintain the space as a beautiful historic landmark where many iconic Arkansans are buried. It is because of these well-known names in the fields of politics, religion, art and literature that Mount Holly is often dubbed the “Westminster Abbey of Arkansas.”
The R.I.P. Spring Picnic is the perfect opportunity to explore the grounds, meet locals from all backgrounds and generations and pay respects to the Little Rock residents who came before. Mount Holly is also the home of many varieties of beautifully aged rose bushes, mature trees, handcrafted signs and a subtle Victorian elegance.
A general ticket includes a boxed dinner, wine and turn of the century picnic “delicacies” to enjoy on the lovely grounds of Mount Holly. The evening will be accompanied by live music and maps of the cemetery will be available for self-guided tours.
