The Hawthorne Bridge will close to all motorized vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians several days this week so crews can install a new gear that controls opening and closing of the bridge, according to a recent release from Multnomah County.
Commuters will need to choose an alternate river crossing 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 2-3 and Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6.
This work is not weather dependent and will continue even if it rains.
Alternate crossings include the Morrison, Steel and Broadway bridges for all traffic, and Tilikum Crossing for pedestrians and bicyclists.
