A lottery player won $50,000 after purchasing a Powerball ticket at a 7-Eleven in Middlesex County for Monday’s drawing.
The winner purchased the ticket at the convenience store on Route 9 north near Spring Valley Road in Old Bridge, lottery officials said.
The third-prize ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Monday’s winning numbers were: 11, 18, 23, 38 and 60. The Powerball number drawn was 9 with a Power Play of 2x.
No one across the country hit Monday’s $398 million jackpot. Two second-prize, $1 million tickets were sold — one in Colorado and one in Pennsylvania. Each matched five numbers but not the Powerball.
In addition, no one hit the secondary, $10 million Double Play drawing. Those winning numbers were: 4, 19, 21, 38 and 64. The Double Play number drawn was 26.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are more than 292 million to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers but not the Powerball and win a second-prize of at least $1 million. The odds of winning a third prize of at least $50,000 are 913,129 to 1.
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated $301 million, with a cash option of $139.5 million.
