How Episcopal Collegiate School Offers Year-Round Learning & Fun With Every Family in Mind

At Episcopal Collegiate School, outstanding academics, dedicated educators and a rich Episcopal tradition unite to cultivate an environment where every student is welcomed and inspired in mind, body and spirit. The ECS team believes education extends beyond the traditional school day and is dedicated to providing enriching experiences that fit seamlessly into every family’s schedule.

Auxiliary programs, led by director Izzy Jackson and associate director Katie Beard, are thoughtfully designed to support students and families year-round, offering flexible and engaging child care options that foster academic growth, social development and personal enrichment.

“What sets us apart is that we focus on students’ rising grades, tailoring all activities to help them develop skills for the upcoming school year,” Jackson shares. “We offer flexible scheduling with full-day and half-day options, and for those seeking additional summer activities, we also provide enrichment camps, including cooking, dance, cheer and arts and crafts.”

A Year-Round Commitment to Learning & Fun

Research underscores the impact out-of-school programs have on student development. That’s why Episcopal Collegiate School offers three key programs — Summer at the E, a 12-month program and aftercare — each tailored to meet the unique needs of students and their families. Whether it’s through creative projects, hands-on learning or structured recreational activities, programs are designed to ensure students continue to thrive in and out of the classroom.

» Summer at the E: What sets Summer at the E apart is its intentional approach to developmentally-appropriate activities. While campers enjoy hands-on activities, games and creative explorations, they are also subtly preparing for a smooth transition back to school.

Summer at the E provides flexibility through full-day and half-day options, allowing parents to tailor their child’s summer experience based on availability and preference without compromising on quality programming.

Another key aspect is the involvement of specialists from the broader community. For instance, in the “Bugology” session, the school partners with experts from the Museum of Discovery to teach students about the fascinating world of insects, bringing real-world knowledge and interactive learning to camps.

» 12-Month Program: Balancing child care can be a challenge for working parents, especially during summer and long holiday breaks. Episcopal’s after-school program offers supervised activities on many school holidays, while a dynamic lineup of enrichment camps provide year-round student engagement.

The school also offers aftercare programs for pre-K3 through eighth grade, allowing students to complete homework, receive tutoring and participate in fun, structured activities beyond regular school hours.

» Aftercare Program: The aftercare program is designed to provide a safe, engaging space for students to unwind, interact and explore. Each afternoon, students enjoy a balance of structured activities and free play, fostering independence, building friendships and offering academic support when needed.

Additionally, various special sessions are offered, such as “Dino Digs,” alongside enriching activities like cooking, dance, cheer and arts and crafts. The program ensures students are engaged in meaningful experiences while providing families with a reliable, high-quality child care solution.

“As part of our middle school program, each group has the opportunity to dedicate 15-30 minutes to homework, depending on the workload,” Jackson says. “We also help students prepare for upcoming tests and provide additional academic support throughout the week, always prioritizing their academic success.”

“Summer at the E is special because it’s open to children outside of Episcopal,” Beard says. “It’s exciting for kids to reunite with friends who may not attend the school, while also making new ones.”
