Def Leppard to perform in Virginia Beach. Tickets for sale.

It’s far from the first time they’ve come to Hampton Roads.

But Def Leppard keeps coming back to the area filled with die-hard fans. The rock band that was at the forefront of the 1980s heavy-metal scene will play the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach on Aug. 31.

Tickets for preferred seating and presale tickets for Citibank cardholders go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Ticket sales for the general public start at 10 a.m. Friday.

Def Leppard began scoring hits in the early 1980s. The band’s songs like “Rock of Ages,” “Photograph” and “Foolin’” were staples on MTV in 1983.

Its classic track “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” off its 1987 album “Hysteria” that’s sold over 25 million copies, is still a staple of classic-radio radio stations.

The band performed with Journey in Virginia Beach in 2018. A Def Leppard concert with ZZ Top, scheduled for the same venue in September 2020, was canceled during the pandemic.
