The Chicago White Sox announced this week that outfielder Andrew Benintendi has a non-displaced fracture in his irght hand and will miss four to six weeks.
Benintendi will be shut down for the remainder of camp and once he’s healthy again he’ll begin a rehab assignment.
After the 2022 season, the White Sox signed Benintendi to a five year, $75 million deal, on which he has three years and $15.83 million remaining.
Benintendi spent some time on the injured list in June 2024 with left achilles tendinitis.
The Yankees traded for Benintendi ahead of the 2022 deadline. At the time, he was among the league leaders in batting average for the Kansas City Royals and coming off his first career All-Star appearance. With the Yankees, he hit .254 in 33 games before being sidelined by broken right hand.
Benintendi was a first-round pick of the Red Sox in 2015 and made his major-league debut the following year. He spent five seasons with Boston before he was traded to Kansas City in 2021.
