Cyclists eager to bare it all for the 2025 return of the World Naked Bike Ride will have to wait another month.
The Portland bike ride has been rescheduled from June 28 to Saturday, July 26, organizers announced on social media.
The June date overlapped with another bike event called Loud n Lit, organizers said.
“Because both events are popular, we want to make sure all riders can attend both this summer,” organizers wrote. “So break out the fairy lights and strip off your pants — just not at the same time! We’re in for a summer chock-full of excellent rides.”
The World Naked Bike Ride held its first event in 2004, attracting cyclists in various states of undress to protest against fossil fuels and for body positivity and rider safety.
The 2024 ride in Portland was canceled after organizers struggled to find volunteer support. The 2023 ride attracted nearly 10,000 participants.
An offshoot group of cyclists that created a replacement event in 2024, is again leading a spin-off bike ride in 2025. That is scheduled for Saturday, Aug 9. As with the original event, the starting location will be announced closer to August and the route will be kept a secret until the ride is underway.
