Actor Danielle Pinnock has starred in the CBS comedy series “Ghosts” for four seasons.
All that time, the New Jersey talent has amused and delighted as one of the series’ main ghosts, Alberta, a Prohibition-era spirit. The character, a jazz singer, met her end in the 1920s.
Now Pinnock, 36, who grew up in Teaneck, is over the moon to be recognized for her TV haunts.
She just won the NAACP Image Award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.
“I couldn’t have done this without y’all,” she said on Instagram, sharing photos from the awards show. “Thank you all for voting for me. Winning an @naacpimageawards is a dream come true. I have wanted this since I was a kid. To my family, friends and community I love you so much. To all of my followers on social media and our @ghostscbs fans my heart is so full.”
Pinnock attended the NAACP Image Awards with her mother Joan, a lawyer, and her husband, dialect coach Jack Wallace, plus her friends, fellow actors LaNisa Frederick (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”) and Bria Samoné Henderson (“The Good Doctor”).
She received her award during the non-televised NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors portion of the awards Friday night. The main ceremony aired live Saturday night on BET and CBS.
“I can’t stop crying,” Pinnock said in her post. “Method Man hugged me twice, I am still SHOOKETH. Ahhhhhh we did it!!!”
This was Pinnock’s first NAACP Image Awards nomination and it’s her first win.
She headed to Instagram straight away to add “NAACP Image Award Winner 25″ to her bio (and memorialized that very moment with a screenshot video duly posted to her account).
Pinnock won the award over Ego Nwodim in “Saturday Night Live,” Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph in “Abbott Elementary” and Wanda Sykes in “The Upshaws.”
Pinnock started out in theater. Since “Ghosts,” her screen career has been on the rise.
She made her film debut in 2023 alongside Eddie Murphy in the Amazon Christmas movie “Candy Cane Lane.”
Pinnock is also known for her hilarious character sketches on social media. Some of her subjects have included Meghan Markle (her redheaded husband played Prince Harry), a woman named Cleo who love sniffing candles at HomeGoods and Bebe, a très chic Parisian bedbug.
