What are you doing about this, Mr. Wittman?
Jamestown is often known as the Birthplace of American Democracy. It is also a part of Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, represented by our Congressman Rob Wittman.
To me, our Jamestown legacy conveys a special responsibility for Mr. Wittman, above all other members of Congress, to do everything possible to preserve democracy in our country and surely not stand by and watch — as the rest of Congress seems to be doing — while daily new events indicate an ongoing attempt to ignore our Congress and Constitution, and change our country into a dictatorship.
My calls to Mr. Wittman’s office staff so far have not revealed anything special he is doing (even in concert with other members of Congress) to prevent this from happening. That’s disappointing. Especially in view of the history of our Jamestown/Williamsburg area, shouldn’t Mr. Wittman be taking a leading role in organizing a congressional defense of our democracy? We hope he will, and we are watching.
This affects all of us, whether Republican or Democrat.

Pick me as secretary of development
I have been about as anti-Trump as one can get all along and remain so on most everything, but on this, he’s an absolute genius! Donald Trump is and has been a developer all his life. A developer’s best friend is his architect who implements the developer’s ideas. I, being an architect, do see what he means by his comment to take over Gaza.
Donald Trump’s idea to rebuild Gaza is absolute genius! Not only that, it would be a fundamental change for the USA in the way we interact with the world. Trump needs a new Department of Development that would change the destructive nature of our defense department’s “blow it up” destructiveness to a developer’s nature of building something useful instead. It would be Joe Biden’s infrastructure enhancement on steroids, a “balls-out” constructive approach to Gaza as well as change how we might provide aid to the rest of the world. We redevelop it. The fundamental change in governance could also work internally in our own country.
We have the most powerful defense department in the world. We are also the preeminent construction industry of the world. Let the Saudis pay for the redevelopment in a partnership with the people of Gaza providing the labor for the work while we provide the brains for the endeavor.
I could be available to be the first secretary of development of the United States. Let’s swap tanks for bulldozers. And, yes, I am a very well-qualified architect.
