Special weather statement issued for Central Oregon until Tuesday morning

A special weather statement was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 1:32 a.m. in effect until 7 a.m. for Central Oregon.

“Light snow with areas of freezing fog have been observed along the Hwy 97 corridor south of Shaniko. Visibilities as low as one quarter mile will be possible as roadways are currently snow covered. Areas of patchy ice may have also developed as Monday’s high temperatures reached slightly above freezing, allowing the potential for refreezing. Motorists are urged to use caution if traveling during the early morning hours today,” states the weather service.

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
