“We’ll take care of u lol all the targets!”
Kendrick Bourne is doing what he can to try and bolster the Patriots’ receiving corps this offseason.
New England’s veteran wideout took to X on Tuesday to make a recruiting pitch to Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp — whose future in Los Angeles seems murky, given his recent comments to the media.
“That’s out of my control,” Kupp told ESPN’s Sarah Barshop about his next move. “And we will see what it’s going to be. … So yeah, obviously would love to be in L.A., but I don’t know what that’s going to look like.”
Kupp’s comments made it on social media, with Bourne offering up his own take about the fellow WR’s next steps.
“Come to NE @CooperKupp we’ll take care of u lol all the targets!,” the New England wide receiver posted to X.
Kupp and Bourne were teammates at Eastern Washington University from 2013-16, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Bourne would welcome him to Foxborough.
Of course, the primary reason why Bourne wants Kupp in New England is the veteran’s evident talent on the gridiron — something that the Patriots are severely missing on the offensive side of the ball.
Kupp torched New England earlier this season, reeling in six catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns in Los Angeles’ 28-22 win over the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Week 11.
Kupp appeared in 12 games for the Rams in 2024, recording 67 catches for 710 yards and six total touchdowns. The 31-year-old wideout has been hindered by injuries over the last few seasons — appearing in just 33 games from 2022-24.
But when Kupp has been on the field, he’s been one of the most impactful wideouts in the NFL — headlined by a 2021 season where he finished with 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns.
Still, Kupp is quite a few years removed from that standout campaign, with his injury history and age (31) raising plenty of concerns.
New England would also need to swing a trade for Kupp if they wanted to bring him aboard, as he’s still under contract with the Rams for another two seasons.
The Patriots still have a projected $120 million in cap space this offseason, so they would have the means to take on Kupp’s contract — which includes a cap hit of $29.7 million in 2025.
Still, the Patriots would be better served signing a younger receiver like Tee Higgins — with the 26-year-old wideout set to hit free agency in the coming months.
Bourne already made his own social-media pitch to Higgins in December.
“Tee Higgins, if you’re out there, I know they’re screen recording this,” Bourne said on his TikTok account. “Come to the Pats, bro. It ain’t what it seems. It’s going to be lit. … Drake Maye and Tee Higgins touchdown. Look how good that sounds.”
